Watertown

Located in the northwest corner of Connecticut in picturesque Litchfield County, Watertown offers the perfect combination of suburban comforts and country living. Originally colonized in 1657, the town now known as Watertown was officially incorporated in 1780. The area has a rich history as a successful industrial community, with factories that have produced silk, dinnerware, fabrics, tools, and most recently, machinery. The town has also been home to several notable figures throughout its past, including broadcaster Joe Cipriano, engineer Benjamin B. Hotchkiss, poet John Trumbull, and educator Horace Dutton Taft – who established the prestigious Taft School in Watertown in 1890, which remains open to this day.

Conveniently situated along several major expressways, Watertown has easy access to transportation throughout the area. Route 6 passes through the center of town, leading to Hartford to the east, Danbury to the west, Litchfield to the north, and Naugatuck to the south. Nearby Route 8 is a multi-lane highway, leading to Torrington in the north, and Waterbury and Bridgeport to the south. Meanwhile, Route 63 intersects with I-84, providing a connection to Massachusetts and New York.

Today, Watertown offers an exciting variety of activities and attractions. Enjoy a wine tasting at the award-winning Hawk Ridge Winery, or grab a sweet treat nearby at the famous candy factory, Fascia’s Chocolates. Explore nature while hiking in Black Rock State Park or Mattatuck State Forest, the two-state parks located in the area. Dine on an eclectic mix of cuisines at local restaurants like Roma Restaurante, Thai Bowl, Sakura, or Fino Pizzeria. With so much to see and do, and set against the natural beauty of the Litchfield Hills, Watertown is ideally suited for any type of lifestyle.
